Medium frequency furnace system
Medium frequency furnace system
For many years, only medium frequency generator sets have provided medium frequency power, and these rugged devices have not yet been completely replaced by solid-state circuits.
They are still used as induction heating power sources throughout the world. While thyristor inverters have entered the medium frequency power supply market in large quantities due to their higher efficiency, they should be carefully studied before discarding rotating electric machines.
Foresighted users should consider the advantages of many years of trouble-free operation, low maintenance costs and good reliability of electric generator sets. The complexity of solid-state circuit devices themselves and their maintenance technology should also be carefully considered.
In comparison, rotating generators only require routine maintenance of bearings by unskilled personnel. Even in the event of rare major failures, more than 40 years of experience should be the basis for evaluating equipment. The temperature of the workpiece heated by induction is measured in the conventional way, but with some important differences. That is, the temperature can be measured by either contact thermocouples or radiation pyrometers. However, some special problems are caused by rapid heating and factors such as coil windings and high electromagnetic fields.
